Together
in the shadow of God, Introduction and Contents
Thoughts succeed in unison. When they are in unison with everything as it is, they are in unison with that spirit-mind that has thought everything as it is.
In this unison we think in unison with the movements of this spirit-mind, in unison with its spiritual movement. Therefore these thoughts succeed, for in that moment they are thought by something greater. We think these thoughts in unison with this greater force, or more precisely, this greater something thinks them in us and with us, and it takes us into its service through these thoughts. These thoughts lead us to this greater force in a way that within these thoughts we experience ourselves at one with this greater force.
These thoughts make us wise. This means: In unison with these thoughts, we know whether something will work, whether something will help, whether they will set something into motion where we can succeed.
These thoughts are gifts to us. First to the one who received them. In this person they move something that until then appeared to be beyond his or her personal thinking, and beyond his or her personal possibilities, and above all beyond the scope of this persons love.
Our thoughts in unison with this greater force, in unison with this spirit- mind that includes everything in its thinking, are thoughts of love. Therefore as they are given to us, they bring about a movement that serves love.
These thoughts give us permission to become wide, like them. Through them, more and more of what appears in our life and in our love, can turn to each other with respect and love: with the kind of love that turns to everything as it is moved by this spirit and taken into its service.
So what do we really succeed in when these thoughts are given to us? We succeed in love, in all-encompassing love, in wide open love.
With these thoughts, wisdom is traveling on, and we are on our way together with wisdom. We are traveling on together with the kind of wisdom that works wherever we allow it to take us into its service.
How do we know most deeply that our thoughts are thoughts of wisdom? When they go beyond us and take others along with us into the movement of love for all that is, as it is.
About this book
This book came about without any intention. Sometimes I had a sense that something took me into its service, as from that moment on I could not focus on anything else, even though other things often seemed to be urgent. Sometimes I tried to resist, attempting to get something else done- but to no avail.
Eventually I gave in, sat down, put a piece of paper in front of me, willing to write. Often I had no idea what I was supposed to write, and what it was about. Then suddenly a word came, and I put the pen to the paper without knowing where it would take me. So I started with the first sentence. Then the next one came. I kept on writing, and then all of a sudden it went stroke by stroke and line by line.
In between I realized where these thoughts were supposed to lead. Sometimes they appeared outrageous. How could I dare say something like this! But the movement had a tight grip on me, I had to obey.
Like this a text on a topic was written, quite on its own accord, without any connection to a previous text.
When such a text was finished, I put the piece of paper aside, let it sit there for a while, and then transferred it onto my computer. Afterwards what I had written left my consciousness and my memory, as if it had just passed through me and past me. This way the various texts and chapters of this book emerged over a long period, more than a year.
But still, these thoughts really had a special effect on me. As incredible as they appeared at times, way beyond my everyday thinking, beyond the limits of my ordinary conscience, they were still tenable and true for my soul, for the source within me, where I experienced myself carried by the infinite spirit, moved and taken into its service.
However not in the sense that I could comprehend them as if they were mine. I handed myself over to them, while they were still present with me, I put myself into their guidance, until the next group of thoughts came that carried me beyond them and left them behind. Therefore even these thoughts, as mightily as they had grabbed me, appeared preliminary after some time.
From this experience I felt it was appropriate to read these thoughts to an audience first, may be even just a chapter at a time. This way, everyone stays recollected: me who is reading, and the listeners who take these thoughts in as the moment allows it for them.
Still, now I publish these thoughts as a book as well. It is a contemplative book, a preliminary book. For the truth is always on the road. It is traveling on forever. It is love in progress. Loves thoughts succeed- always.
